Most Ohio drivers know that when operating a motor vehicle, obeying the rules of the road is important for everyone's safety. When negligent drivers do not obey these posted traffic signs, individuals can, and do, get hurt in serious automobile accidents.
This appears to be the case in a tragic car accident which took the life of one person, and injured three others, in Tiffin Township. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, one vehicle was heading southbound on Carpenter Road while a pickup truck drove westbound on Banner School Road. Investigators found that the car failed to yield the right of way, driving into the intersection where the car was broadsided by the pickup.
The driver of the car was killed as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. A passenger in the car was airlifted from the scene of accident to a local medical facility to receive treatment for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The pickup driver and a passenger were also treated for injuries.
An unfortunate truth of many automobile accidents is that injured victims can have both costly immediate expenses resulting from their injuries and sometimes also permanent damage which can alter their livelihoods. Also, if a family member dies in a tragic car accident, it can have significant lasting emotional and financial consequences on those who survive them.
In the event of a life-altering injury, a victim may find themselves incapable of doing the same work or hobbies they used to. This could lead to diminished life-time earning potential as well as decreased happiness. In a legal case, people injured in a car accident not of their own fault could bring a civil suit against those responsible for their injuries and receive financial compensation for their losses.
