When an individual or family member was seriously disabled or received a brain injury in an automobile accident, it can be difficult to know what to do. Oftentimes injuries of these types can require exorbitant and life-long medical expenses to properly care for and, without financial compensation, many may not know how they will cover the costs. If the car accident was the responsibility of another driver, the liable individual may be held responsible for covering the cost.
While advances in automobile safety technology have helped keep drivers and passengers safe from serious harm in many accidents, there are still some types of accidents where injuries seem unavoidable. Amongst these types of accidents are roll-over accidents, where the force of a collision flips a vehicle onto its side or roof.
Consider a recent accident from the town of Campbell, Ohio. One driver was seriously injured after his vehicle was struck crossing through an intersection. According to police reports on the accident, the second driver may have been driving at excessive speeds, and may have caused the accident by driving through a stop sign. The force of the accident caused the injured drivers vehicle to flip over.
The injured driver was transported to a local medical facility to receive treatment for his injuries, while the other driver was uninjured.
In cases such as these, where excessive speed and possible disregard for posted traffic signs may have caused an accident, it may be easier to prove liability in court. If that is the case, the responsible party may be found legally liable and required to cover the cost of damages and injuries, likely through payment from an insurance company. If that payment does not meet the long-term needs of a seriously injured individual, it may be beneficial to discuss the case with an experienced personal injury lawyer.
