When an Ohioan is in a motor vehicle accident, it can be difficult to know how to proceed. In addition to the damages of property a car accident can cause, a serious injury can cause both immediate and long-term disruptions. Many individuals may be unsure if they should seek financial compensation, or how they go about doing so.
Before making the decision to pursue legal compensation, it can be helpful to discuss the options with a legal expert who can help evaluate any evidence and build a case. Oftentimes this means attempting to gather information about another drivers unsafe driving habits to help determine liability in the case. While there are many different examples of what constitutes unsafe driving habits, examples include driving while texting or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Another common unsafe habit is speeding, which was a factor in a recent Dayton car accident which sent three individuals to the Miami Valley Hospital with injuries. According to police reports on the incident, the accident occurred when an eastbound vehicle, travelling well above the speed limit, ran a stop sign. The car collided with another vehicle crossing the street, veering the speeding vehicle off into a series of parked vehicle. A fire department crew was needed to remove two people from the speeding vehicle.
Given that the speed-limit in the area of the accident was 25 miles per hour, and the speeding vehicle was reported at speeds well above that, it may be easier to prove recklessness in a court. Having evidence to support claims of another drivers reckless behavior can strengthen a case, which may make financial compensation for injuries or damages more likely.
