Many people assume that when a truck accident occurs, the truck driver was the one at fault. However, semi truck drivers are not always liable. Other drivers can make mistakes and their negligence can cause accidents and injuries. A Jeep and semi truck in Ironton, Ohio were traveling next to each other when the Jeep drifted into the semi's lane and caused a collision.
The truck accident occurred on the morning of Oct. 18 on State Route 93, two miles outside Ironton. Both vehicles were traveling southbound when the Jeep crashed into the semi truck. The truck was carrying scrap metal and the impact caused it to overturn. The lanes were closed well into the afternoon so that crews could clean up. Motorists had to take a different route.
The driver of the Jeep received no injuries, but the truck driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. It is unknown why the Jeep went into the other lane or if the driver will be charged with any crime.
Truck accidents can be caused by a variety of factors and sometimes the other vehicle is to blame. It is rare that the semi truck and driver would be the ones to suffer damages and injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle would survive the accident without any injuries at all. What caused the accident to occur? Did the Jeep fail to see the semi in the adjacent lane? Were there other factors involved such as distractions or intoxication?
Does the truck driver and trucking company have a case against the driver of the Jeep? It would be wise to look into the possibility of filing a lawsuit to seek recovery.
