What would cause a woman to hit a car, keep on driving and hit another car? Police are still trying to find out after an early morning car accident in Holmes County, which is located several hours outside Dayton, Ohio, that killed one man and left two others with serious injuries.
On Oct. 27, a 68-year-old woman was traveling southbound on Route 83 near Millersburg when she hit a Honda Civic that in the northbound lane. She continued on and hit another vehicle, a Toyota Camry, in that same lane.
Nobody in the Civic was injured, but the man driving the Camry was killed. The 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. In his car, he had a passenger - a 2-year-old girl - who suffered critical injuries. She was airlifted to Akron Children's Hospital for medical treatment. The woman who caused the crash was also seriously injured and ultimately flown to Akron General Medical Center.
An accident is often caused by a negligent driver. A traffic violation often serves as evidence of a driver's negligence. In this case, the driver should have stayed in her lane and followed the rules of the road.
Was the woman driving recklessly or was the accident that cause of something simple, such as inattention? Although drivers need to pay full attention to the roadway, they can become distracted easily. Accidents can happen even when a driver takes his or her eyes off the road for only a few seconds.
The victims affected by the woman's driving may wish to pursue legal action. The female driver, if found to be negligent and at fault for the accident, may be forced to pay damages to the injured little girl, as well as the survivors of the deceased man's family.
