It can be challenging to drive at night when visibility is limited. On top of that, when a motorist is unfamiliar with the road, distracted or intoxicated, accidents are much more likely to occur. A police officer recently suffered serious injury after he was hit by another driver who failed to successfully navigate around a corner.
The car accident happened in Medina County, just after midnight on March 1, when a 23-year-old man was driving around a corner. He ended up driving off the road after failing to successfully round the corner. The man was able to get his truck back on the road, but he turned too far to the left and hit the 43-year-old police officer. The officer, a 14-year veteran of the North Olmsted Police Department, was driving home after his shift.
The police officer was airlifted to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is currently in critical condition. The man who caused the accident was injured after his truck hit a ditch and flipped over. He was transported to Southwest General Hospital. Police are still investigating the auto accident. It is unknown if any charges will be filed.
The car accident in this case could have been caused by a variety of factors, including speed, intoxication or simple negligence. The driver who caused the accident could be cited for his negligence and possibly sued by the police officer. The injured officer may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit and recover compensation for lost wages, medical expenses and emotional damages such as pain and suffering.
