Five people are recovering from a car crash in Wellington Township, Ohio. Three of them were passengers in a car that was hit by a pickup truck. Sadly, a college student died in the fatal car accident.
The accident happened on the evening of May 2 near Ohio 18 and Quarry Road. The car was traveling north, while the pickup truck traveled west. Three people in the car were injured, as were the driver and passenger in the pickup truck. All were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.
The couple in the pickup truck are doing well. The 55-year-old woman has been released, while the 56-year-old man remains in good condition. Those in the other vehicle, however, are not as fortunate. The three victims are still in serious condition. A passenger in the back seat, a college student at Ashland University, died the following morning.
It is unknown why the pickup truck hit the other vehicle, but it is possible that the driver will face some sort of liability for his actions. Because the car accident caused serious injury and death, it is possible that the man could face criminal charges. This is especially true if an investigation finds that the man was doing something illegal at the time of the crash. For example, he could have been speeding, texting, distracted or intoxicated. It is also possible that he ran a stop light or stop sign.
The death of a child - even an adult one - can be heart-wrenching for any parent. Although a wrongful death lawsuit won't bring back the deceased victim, it can pay for damages as well as help bring about justice and closure.
